I hated writing this letter … but, I had to.
My client was having troubles with speed on her website, so she asked Wiser Sites to go in and take a look.
I tried to break the news gently, but how do you tell someone the neighborhood she’s living in is downright scary?
Here’s what I wrote (personal info deleted) …
Is your website on shared hosting? Do you know who your neighbors are?Click To TweetDear ____
Good News.
We were able to solve the issues with your hosting. All your plugins and themes are now up to date and working properly. We have also set up scheduled backups for your site.
Not so good news…
Here is something you need to know about your current hosting:
There are 231 other websites sharing your hosting account and resources — including two pornography sites. I know, I was shocked too, but facts are facts.
Here’s how to see for yourself:
Go to TCPIPUTILS.com and enter your domain name. Press Go to see the list of your immediate online neighbors. The list goes on and on. I found the two porno sites in the first 50 listed. Who knows what else is there.
This list does not show subdomains. That means there could be 1,000 or more sites sharing your resources. Performance and security are compromised by your digital neighbors.
Porno sites and gambling sites tend to get a LOT of traffic. That is why you keep experiencing periods of excessive drops and slow loading. It’s not your fault. It’s theirs.
I assure you this is not some upsell sales pitch to win $120 a year from you for hosting. It’s a genuine concern for your safety and performance as a valued customer.
My sincere advice is to let me move you over to Wiser Sites. Our hosting program began as a away to provide a secure and above-board neighborhood where good sites like yours can prosper.
Your situation could be the poster-site for why safe harbor is needed.
Again, it’s my job to make sure you have all the information necessary to make informed decisions about your home online. I will wait for your instruction on the matter. If you want to stay where you are, I’m still happy to help any time you need me.
Sincerely,
Jason Wiser

Wiser Sites
The same thing is true with YOUR online home
Let’s face it, you wouldn’t want to live and raise a family in a crime-ridden neighborhood so why would you build a business in a seedy online neighborhood?
You see, the big hosts throw you in wherever they can. They don’t put the good sites on an upscale server and the riffraff on another. They load up one server and start filling up another … and they don’t care who goes where because they know that most customers will never take the time to see who they are sharing hosting with.
Try it for yourself. Go to TCPIPUTILS.com and enter your domain name. You may be in for a big surprise.

In order to protect our customers, subscribers, and friends, I’m opening the door to Wiser Sites hosting to above-board sites like yours. You see, I don’t want my websites to live in a questionable neighborhood either.
The price is about the same thing you are paying to GoDaddy, HostMonster, or some of the other shared hosting services — but the resources for speed and security you get with Wiser Sites infinitely better.
Yes, there’s an application process. I’m very selective about who we allow to move into the community, otherwise we would be the same as the others.
But there’s no application fee. I just need to know a little about your site.
To get in, email me or call 213-432-8177 and let me know that you’re interested. Remember to include the URL of the site you want to host with Wiser Sites.
I’ll take a look, give you some ideas, and we can help you get moved in and comfortable right away.
That’s all.
We’re currently hosting less than 70 websites on a dedicated server that can easily handle 600! There is lots of room to grow, but don’t let that keep you from making a decision now.
Like any neighborhood — all the available spots fill up before you know it.

You see … it’s not only that you might want to flee from shared hosted in a horrible neighborhoods where others are using up the available bandwidth and causing intermittent loss of service … you might be exposing yourself to huge security risks by being there.
All it takes is one break-in to make you wish you would have got the heck out of Dodge.
Come take a look at the Wiser Sites option.
You won’t be disappointed. I guarantee you that.
